I am very happy to offer to you today as an ebook Ipad version "The Basics", which is the first book I wrote in 1998 . Thanks to new technologies, it is easier to combine knowledge, images and expertise. This interactive version presents to you a more comprehensive book, with new tools such as videos and audio commentary.
Just as we would say about a glass that it is filled up to the brim, ¾ full or half full etc..., and fill it as we want, we can, with the cue ball hit the second ball full, ¾ full, ¼ full etc... We will call these differences, QUANTITIES, here are the main variations.
These quantities give the directions of balls 1 and 2 and define their speeds.
Only a few players play real attention to this range of shots, as they are easy to carry out. However they deserve great care. In billiards you will see that missing a shot is very easy. Study this chapter very carefully in order to understand the natural shot and its principles so that your visual memory can recognize it with complete accuracy.
This range of shots is based on all the principles of the straight natural shots. But to make sure we hit ball 3, ball 1 needs to hit one or several cushions. We play with NATURAL ROTATION and add, if necessary some ENGLISH to our cueball to adjust its DIRECTION after it hits the cushion.
The quantity determines the speed ratio of ball 1 and 2.
The following chapter is very important, not by the number of pages, but by its crucial aspect in the game. You will see that a great deal of shots depend on BACKWARD ROTATION. When you started billiards, you could achieve natural shots, but it will take several sessions to master this rotation on the cueball and make these shots.
This chapter requires patience and perseverance. Keep practicing until you reach perfection. But be careful, you will take these shots for granted and when you play them on the table, you will play too fast and miss them. You will then understand that a shot depending on compensations is difficult and needs great care.
