Compensation Shots

This chapter requires patience and perseverance. Keep practicing until you reach perfection. But be careful, you will take these shots for granted and when you play them on the table, you will play too fast and miss them. You will then understand that a shot depending on compensations is difficult and needs great care.

The CUEING HEIGHT, the QUANTITY, ENGLISH and FORCE all play a role in this range of shots, where we have to create a consistent speed ratio. Ball 1 must arrive smoothly on ball 3, while ball 2 also rolls back smoothly on ball 3.

Dead Ball Follow Shot - Position 4

As the distance of ball 1 and 2 doesn't give us an appropriate speed ratio, we play hard in order to accelerate ball 2 and we slow ball 1 down by reducing our cueing height. This quantity both directs ball 1 and ensures ball 2 returns properly.
