Natural Straight Shot

Only a few players play real attention to this range of shots, as they are easy to carry out. However they deserve great care. In billiards you will see that missing a shot is very easy. Study this chapter very carefully in order to understand the natural shot and its principles so that your visual memory can recognize it with complete accuracy.

It is called a direct shot, as the player hits balls 2 and 3 without using any cushions. It always uses the same ball rotation. The tip is placed very high on the cue ball to achieve a NATURAL ROTATION (refer to the illustration). The contact point of the cue ball on ball 2 determines their directions and the speed.

Straight Shot Natural Deflection - Position 1

Natural deflection gives the cue ball the precise direction of ball 3. Aim precisely at the quantity of ball 2 and follow through the cue ball with a straight and slow stroke in order to keep the right deflection. At the end of the shot, the three balls must end in the grey area.
